In most cases, yes — weekend moves cost more in metro Atlanta because demand is higher. Saturday is the busiest moving day of the week, and many companies charge a flat weekend premium or simply book out their lowest hourly rates Monday–Thursday. If your schedule is flexible, booking a Tuesday or Wednesday move typically saves 10–20% versus the same crew on a Saturday. Are there extra fees for moving during peak season (May–September)?

Peak season in Atlanta runs May through September, with the heaviest demand around month-end and the week before Atlanta-area college move-ins. Many local movers raise their hourly rate, require larger minimum hour blocks, or add a peak-season surcharge during these months. We don't charge a peak-season surcharge, but we do book up four to six weeks in advance during this window. The single biggest way to save money in peak season is to book early and pick a mid-month, mid-week date.

Do movers charge extra if the truck can't park close to your door?

Yes — this is called a long-carry fee, and most companies charge it after a set distance (commonly 75 feet) between the truck and your front door. It's most common in tight Atlanta neighborhoods like Inman Park, Cabbagetown, and Virginia-Highland, and in high-rises without a loading dock. To avoid it: reserve a loading zone or parking spot in front of your building, ask your HOA to cone off space, or share photos of the access with your movers ahead of time so they can position the truck efficiently.
