How much does it cost to move a piano?

Most upright and spinet piano moves are billed at our transparent hourly rate with a 2-hour minimum — typically $300-$500 depending on stairs, distance, and access. Adding a piano to a household move keeps it on the same crew and rate. We do not move baby grands or grands.

Do you move pianos up and down stairs?

Accepted Answer

Yes, regularly — uprights, consoles, and spinets. Crew size scales with the instrument weight and stair count. For heavy antique uprights, player pianos, or four-plus flights we use a larger crew and stair-climbing equipment. There is no per-stair or per-flight surcharge.

Do you move baby grand or grand pianos?

Accepted Answer

No. Bears Moving Co. moves standard upright and spinet pianos only — consoles, studio uprights, full-size and antique uprights, player pianos, and digital pianos. Baby grands, parlor grands, and concert grands require leg-and-lyre disassembly and skid-board handling that we do not offer, so we refer those moves to a specialty grand-piano mover.

Are pianos covered by your moving insurance?

Yes. Every piano move is covered under our full cargo and liability insurance (GA HHG #9320). For high-value antique and vintage uprights we offer supplemental Full Value Protection, explained before you sign.

How do I prepare my piano for the move?

Accepted Answer

Lock the keyboard lid if it has a key, close and latch other lids, and clear a path from the instrument to the door. Don't try to shift it yourself even an inch — pianos are top-heavy and tip dangerously. We bring every dolly, strap, blanket, and runner the job needs.
