Because the truck comes home the same day, local moves are billed hourly rather than by weight, which is almost always the cheaper structure for the customer when the mover is honest about the clock.
The clock starts when the crew arrives at your origin and stops when the last item is set down at your destination. Drive time between the two addresses is on the clock, but there is no separate travel fee, no per-mile charge, and no fuel surcharge anywhere inside our service zone.

Studios and small 1-bedrooms usually finish inside the true 2-hour minimum. A 1-bedroom with stairs runs 2–4 hours, a 2-bedroom 4-6, a 3-bedroom home 5-7, and a 4-bedroom with a basement 8-10. Those ranges assume you're packed before we arrive — an unpacked kitchen is the single most common reason a move runs long.
Crew size is the lever that matters most. Three movers on a 3-bedroom usually costs less in total than two movers on the same job, because the hours drop faster than the rate rises. We size the crew to the job on the phone, not to the invoice.
Finish packing the night before, including the kitchen and the garage. Empty dresser drawers of anything breakable and leave clothes in place. Take apart anything you already know how to reassemble. Reserve the elevator and the loading zone if your building requires it, and confirm the Certificate of Insurance is on file. Clear a path from the furthest room to the front door.
