Ball Ground sits at the north end of Cherokee at the intersection of Hwy-372 and Hwy-5. Waleska — Reinhardt University town

Nelson — county's smallest city
Nelson sits at the far northwest corner of Cherokee, on the Pickens County line. Population under 1,500. Historically a marble-quarrying town (the famous Tate marble quarries are just up the road in Pickens). Median home prices: $325–450K.
Hickory Flat & Towne Lake — major unincorporated communities
Hickory Flat is a large unincorporated community in east-central Cherokee along Hwy-140, zoned to Sequoyah High School (one of the county's top-rated schools). Towne Lake is the unincorporated area surrounding Woodstock and Etowah High Schools, often referenced as a separate community from the City of Woodstock proper. Commute reality
I-575 is the spine of the county and carries most of the commuting load. Off-peak from Woodstock to Buckhead is 40 minutes; from Canton it's 55. Peak hours add 20–40 minutes. I-575 has Peach Pass express toll lanes that help significantly during rush hour. North of Canton, I-575 becomes a two-lane highway (GA-515) heading toward the mountains.
