Best Neighborhoods to Move to in Buckhead: A Newcomer's Guide
Buckhead is Atlanta's wealthiest district and one of the metro's most desirable places to live — but "Buckhead" covers about 28 square miles and contains a dozen distinct neighborhoods, each with its own architectural character, price point, and personality. Here's the newcomer's guide to which Buckhead neighborhood fits which buyer.
Garden Hills is one of Buckhead's most beloved residential neighborhoods, a 1920s planned community of cottage-style and mid-century homes on a tight grid east of Peachtree Road. Garden Hills Elementary is one of Atlanta Public Schools' top elementary schools, the neighborhood pool is a community hub, and the walkability to the Garden Hills business district (Peachtree Battle Shopping Center) sets it apart from most of Buckhead. Median home price ~$1.2M.
Peachtree Hills is the small neighborhood just south of Garden Hills and west of Peachtree Road, anchored by Peachtree Hills Park and a tight stock of bungalows and renovated mid-century homes. It's the closest thing to a value entry into the walkable Buckhead core. Median home price ~$850K.
