Most upright piano moves within Metro Atlanta are billed at our 2-hour minimum hourly rate — typical range $300-$500 depending on stairs, distance, and access. Baby grands and concert grands require a larger crew and more equipment; we quote those after a brief phone walkthrough. Combining your piano move with a household move usually lowers the total.

Can you move a piano up or down stairs?

Yes. We move pianos up and down stairs regularly — uprights as well as baby grands. The crew size scales with the piano weight and the stair count. For very heavy concert grands or extreme stair counts (4+ flights), we may use specialized stair-climbing equipment or a 4-mover crew.

Do you partially disassemble grand pianos?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Baby grand and concert grand pianos have their legs, lyre (pedal assembly), and pedals removed before transport. The body is wrapped, tilted onto a piano skid board, and crated for the truck. Reassembly happens at the destination — the piano will need professional tuning afterward (we recommend allowing 2-4 weeks for the piano to acclimate before tuning).

Yes. Every piano move is covered under our full cargo and liability insurance under GA HHG #9320. For high-value concert instruments or vintage uprights with significant resale value, we recommend supplemental Full Value Protection — we'll walk you through the options before you sign.

How do I prepare my piano for the move?

Accepted Answer

Lock the keyboard lid if it has a key, close and latch any other lids, and clear a path from the piano to the front door. Don't try to move it yourself even an inch — pianos are top-heavy and can tip dangerously. We bring all the dollies, straps, padding, and crating equipment.
